Frequently Asked Questions

What is Reiki?

Reiki is an ancient Japanese healing technique that uses the energy in and around your body to promote healing and well being through light touch.

Reiki is based on seven chakras that hold meaning within our bodies: Root, Sacral, Solar Plexus, Heart, Throat, Third Eye & Crown. Keeping the chakras balanced allows us to be the best version of ourselves.

What do I need to bring to my appointment?

An open heart and comfortable clothes! During your session, you will lay on your back on a specialized table for approximately an hour. Pillows and blankets are provided to make you as comfortable as possible. You also have the option to sit in a chair for your session. Your comfort level is imperative!

What happens after you receive Reiki?

There is no single answer for how receiving Reiki will affect a client. Reiki energy is individualized to the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the receiver. Some clients experience physical detox symptoms after receiving Reiki while others may be more emotional in the days and weeks after. These are good signs! To align with the best version of yourself, the energy is effectively purging your mind, body & soul of blockages.

What can I expect at my first session?

During an in-person session, we will spend approximately 5-10 minutes talking about any areas of your life where you might feel “stuck.” You will then lie on the Reiki table on your back. Pillows and blankets will be provided to make you as comfortable as possible. I will ask you to do some breath work with me and then close your eyes. With your permission, I will then assess your overall well being by lightly touching/hovering over the chakra points in your body. Light music will be played in the background and occasionally sound bowls and other instruments will be used. Once the session is completed after approximately one hour, we will spend 10-15 minutes reviewing my findings, offering advice and passing along any other messages that come through.

Is Reiki a religion?

Reiki is not based in any religion. It is a holistic technique for stress reduction and relaxation. Its spiritual component is the idea that universal life energy flows through all of us.

How often should you get Reiki?

It depends. Some clients can have one session and not need another one. Some clients return monthly for “alignment” while others return twice a year. The beauty of Reiki is it will tell you what you need to achieve balance.
